Moreover, with the increase in the purchasing of cars and other automotive the population is opting on using them due to their tight schedules at work. At work, with the new designs of buildings that have escalators, it makes people rarely walk even at work. The population needs information on the importance of walking. a) Walking helps in maintaining. health weight Walking is considered to be a physical activity that can help an individual burn some of the calories. Averagely, with walking a person can lose about 150 calories with 30 minutes of walking. If the person walks faster, making the physical exercise more vigorous the faster will the individual burn the calories (Mayo clinic, 2021). b) Walking can help prevent some chronic heart diseases and diabetes Walking can be considered as an aerobic exercise that improves one’s health. Walking strengthens the heart muscles as it increases the pumping action of the heart as oxygen is supplied in the body (Murtarg et al., 2010). Besides, it helps maintain steady blood pressure, especially for diabetic patients. Walking improves blood circulation in the cases where the blood vessels had been reduced due to fat deposition (West, 2021). c) Walking helps improve cognition, memory, and mood Walking increases blood flow to the brain, it also sends waves through our bodies and thus improving the cognitive function of the individual (psychology today, 2020). d) Walking improves one’s immunity Taking regular exercise will increase blood circulation in the body that means it will also improve the circulation of white blood cells circulating in the body (Roberts, 2020). e) Walking helps reduce tension and stress During the work sessions, people are likely to feel pressure and thus get stressed as they try to attain the goals of the day, taking a break and walking across the street at work can help such individuals to relax and increase energy levels and thus improve efficiency when they return.
